Permit drawings are the subset of the design package a jurisdiction reviews for code compliance. They are not always the full construction-detail set — but they must be complete enough for approval.
Typical contents
- Site plan as required
- Floor plans with dimensions and code notes
- Elevations and sections
- Structural sheets when required
- Energy and other compliance forms
Plan check reality
Reviewers comment; teams revise. Multiple cycles are normal. Clean packages reduce cycles but do not eliminate them.
Owner role
Pay fees, respond quickly to decisions, and avoid changing scope mid-review when possible.
Fees and quotes
Clarify whether design fees include permit submission support and response to comments — or only drawing production.
